Children aged between 7 – 12 years express their vision of future living spaces. The workshop is held regularly in July at the Vienna University of Technology (VUT) in the frame of the ‘Vienna Children’s University’.

What does the city of the future look like? For three hours you are the architect of tomorrow and will put down your visions and ideas on paper. Together we will then build a model of the city of your dreams from various materials. The only things you need to bring are your dreams and visions!

Workshop 2012: Spaceport Vienna
Wir bauen einen Weltraumflughafen und fliegen von dort mit dir ins All. Als Teil des „AstronautInnen/ArchitektInnen“-Trainings stellen wir uns dazu die folgenden Fragen: a) Wieso fliegen Menschen ins All? b) Wie funktioniert eine Rakete und wie kommt man in den Weltraum? c) Wie lebt es sich zwischen den Sternen und was ist Weltraumarchitektur? Auf diesen Überlegungen aufbauend, entwerfen und bauen wir gemeinsam mit dir einen Weltraumflughafen und starten mit dir ins All.

You are one of 25 astronauts that will soon travel to Mars. A lot of things have to be prepared … and you will need a place to live. Astronaut trainers, space experts and architects will guide you, transforming your vision into reality in the form of drawings and large-scale models.

Was haben ein Haus und ein Raumanzug gemeinsam? Wir sind für drei Stunden Architektinnen und Architekten von morgen und entwerfen mit verschiedenen Materialien und Techniken „Räume zum Anziehen“ für die Zukunft. Bitte bring Freude am Experimentieren mit! Anschließend an den Workshop kannst du deinen Eltern und Begleitpersonen die entstandenen „Räume zum Anziehen“ präsentieren!
What do a house and a spacesuit have in common? For three hours we are the spacearchitects of tomorrow and, with various materials and techniques, we’ll design “spaces to wear” for the future. Please bring your joy in experimenting with you! At the end of the workshop you can present your constructed “spaces to wear” to your parents and guardians!
